50% wild ferment in French oak along with 50% stainless steel ferment.

What the Reviewers are saying

This Sapling Yard The Four Pinots Rosé 2022 is one of the better rosé to pass the desk in recent months and another success from Sapling Yard. An interesting blend, too – Pinot Gris from Boorowa, Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier from Tumbarumba, and Pinot Blanc from the Sapling Yard Vineyard in Braidwood. All the Pinot mutations! Half fermented wild in oak, the rest in stainless. More like a white wine than pink, with pear fruit and just a little pink grapefruit. There’s a red apple generosity here that makes it too, and again, dry and fresh as well yet soft enough to be tasty. Nice pink.

As the name implies, this interesting Rose is from a multi-regional blend of Noir, Gris, Blanc & Meunier with 50% wild fermentation in French oak and 50% in stainless steel tanks.
The appealing salmon blush leads to a mouth-watering initial crunch of green apple flavours, wafts of marzipan / Turkish delight and sweet and sour jubiness.
It offers some textural complexity and vibrancy, driven by lip-puckering natural acidity.
It is a refreshing Rose to be enjoyed in its current varietal primacy

Pale salmon, notes of orange pith and mandarins on the nose lead into a tangy and crisp palate. The acidity is long and lilting, enlivening the tastebuds. Its citrus flavours are energetic. A subtle wisp of smoke and mid-palate richness suggests this has seen some oak. This is an exciting and invigorating take on pinot gris.

Brown pear, strawberry, a little spice and musky perfume. It’s saline and gently savoury, blood orange tang with a pear skin texture, quite some complexity and layers here, with a bright and juicy finish that’s a little nutty and umami/button mushroomy, offering excellent length. Sophisticated and beautifully made. It’s an absolute charmer.
